A pair of penthouses have debuted across the top floor of the Madrid EDITION. As two of the largest suites in the Spanish capital, the posh new accommodations were designed by London-based John Pawson and Paris-based François Champsaur to mirror one another with opulent material palettes that include “dark oak paneling, limestone floors and bathroom counters, handmade plaster headboards, Iroko decking,” Pawson says. “The contrast of light and dark relates to the court paintings of Velasquez and the headboard is a reference to the Baroque Portal by Ribera.”
Totaling nearly 5,000 square feet, the Madrid Penthouse frames vistas of the city via a panoramic terrace and a private outdoor infinity pool surrounded by lush greenery. Inside, refined interiors are lined with natural textures and elegant furnishings, including an eight-seat travertine marble dining table and a daybed comprised of leather and wood. The Madrid Penthouse, which is equipped to connect with an adjoining suite to create a private two-bedroom enclave, also boasts a walk-in wardrobe in its master bedroom.
At more than 3,100 square feet, the Opera Penthouse can also be fused with two adjoining suites to form a three-bedroom urban retreat complete with a secluded terrace and infinity pool.
