The Peninsula New York has revealed a comprehensive redesign, led by locally based Bill Rooney Studio, that encompasses the hotel’s 219 guestrooms and suites, lobby, reception, Palm Court, and Pen Top rooftop lounge.
The renovated landmark property, a fixture on Fifth Avenue since 1904, nods to the sophisticated elegance of 1920s Manhattan with a fresh, refined simplicity.
Guests are greeted in a grand double-height lobby adorned with a striking chandelier and a marble double staircase. An intimate reception area and concierge desk boast light, fresh finishes and rich wood paneling.
Central to the hotel, the Palm Court’s atrium is now home to a commissioned triptych by artist Ricardo Mazal, whose nature-inspired piece represents the city’s human energy and accentuates the verticality of the space.
Refreshed guestrooms at the Peninsula New York
The revamped guestrooms and suites evoke the feel of a private Manhattan apartment, blending an elegant color palette with contemporary furnishings and curated artwork that captures the essence of New York.
Carefully selected objets d’art and books lend a touch of understated modernity to each room as well.
Enhanced dining concepts
Adjacent to the lobby, the revived Gotham Lounge is reintroduced as an intimate piano bar adorned with local artwork and opulent furnishings, while Clement remains a classic Midtown destination for breakfast, brunch, and lunch.
As the crowning feature, the reimagined Pen Top rooftop lounge offers a new year-round experience thanks to an operable louvered roof, allowing for versatile indoor and outdoor dining. In a return to its original namesake, the transformed rooftop is reminiscent of an artist’s loft, lush with greenery and plush sofas.
