A Bridal Shop in Warsaw Embraces Futuristic Minimalism

Balbek Bureau designs the Milla Nova showroom to transport guests to the boundaries of reality and fantasy

Milla Nova, a Ukrainian brand specializing in wedding and evening dresses, has unveiled its flagship boutique in Warsaw, Poland.

Crafted by Kyiv-based studio Balbek Bureau, the three-story showroom plays on the contrast between the delicate image of a bride and the brutal landscapes of extraterrestrial worlds, drawing inspiration from Stanley Kubrick’s iconic 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The showroom’s main sales area is located on the ground floor. Here, the floor is covered in microcement, giving it a raw, planetary feel, while a metal line runs through the space, visually connecting the display rails and podiums.

A standout element is the use of stones, crafted from a combination of gypsum and painted foam covered in microcement. These visually realistic stones are complemented by a stone panel that mimics marble.

Milla Nova’s second floor is dedicated to bridal gowns, with a lounge that nods to the interiors of intergalactic ships—both unearthly and inviting. Softer colors and smoother textures dominate this space, with a massive sofa as the focal point, set against a backdrop of hand-carved wood panels.

On this floor, four fitting rooms are designed with a neutral palette, smooth lines, and tactile materials. One of the fitting rooms is enclosed within an oval space, another is bathed in natural light by a window, and the largest is distinguished by a terracotta-colored wall.
