SB Architects and LandDesign have revealed plans to collaborate on the design of Rivana at Innovation Station, a proposed mixed-use destination located in Northern Virginia’s Loudon County—just outside of Washington, DC. Spread across 4.4 million square feet, the project will be home to 2,000 multifamily housing units, 1.8 million square feet of Class-A office space, a 185,00-square-foot retail village, a 265-room boutique hotel, and a network of green and public spaces.
“We are honored to help create a place that will buzz with new business activity without disrupting the local fabric of Loudoun County, where country charm, heritage, and tradition coalesce with modern urban life,” says SB Architects president and principal Scott Lee. “There is a growing need for emotionally restorative environments where people can slow down, connect, and feel inspired—Rivana fulfills this desire by honoring the ethos and history of Loudoun County and by nurturing an intimate relationship with nature in the built environment for residents, visitors, and office tenants.”
Michael Hsu Office Architecture will spearhead the design of exteriors for the retail village, while will feature a community-oriented retail, dining, and entertainment lineup. Tenants will be selected to reflect the creative, independent, and artisan culture of the region.
The construction of Rivana at Innovation Station is slated to kick off in early 2022 and is projected to wrap in 2024.
