Locally based Note Design Studio has revealed its design of the new offices for tech consultancy Samsen in Stockholm. Although commissioned as a workspace and meeting venue in the heart of the Swedish capital, the atmosphere is reminiscent of a cozy, cool wine bar and café informed by Japanese dining and design traditions.
“When we did our first presentation for Samsen, they first went quiet. They had to explain to us that they didn’t want an office at all—they just wanted to work in a wine bar,” says Note interior designer Susanna Wåhlin. “The whole idea is to offer employees something different and add real value besides going to work every day.”
Dubbed the Samsen Atelier, the contemporary new facility demonstrates great flexibility across two connected rooms. A large yellow communal table anchors one room to accommodate dining or collaborative work, while the other space features a bespoke limestone bar accented with stools, a trio of café tables, and custom upholstered benches installed beneath two large windows.
Inspired by warm and moody Japanese culinary spaces, darkly stained wood lines the interior alongside modern accents of concrete and steel. The kitchen, located beyond a curtain, is equipped with brushed metal appliances that contrast Samsen Atelier’s golden palette.
