At a glance: Situated in a McKim, Mead & White-designed building, the 153-room Fifth Avenue Hotel is “a project of provenance,” says Martin Brudnizki, founder of his eponymous firm, noting how the structure is “one of the last great mansions of the Gilded Age.” Yet, there will be contemporary interventions, too, including a 24-story glass tower and a restaurant from NoHo Hospitality Group. To Brudnizki, the Fifth Avenue Hotel signifies “a return to romance, with a layered and residential aesthetic,” he says.
