At a glance: While Miami gets a lot of attention, Fort Lauderdale is quickly becoming an inviting alternative, thanks in part to the arrival of the Four Seasons. The design of the forthcoming hotel reflects the classic yacht club lifestyle—down to the yacht-shaped building. Midcentury-inspired interiors boast geometric travertine floors in the lobby and rattan sofas found in all-day café Honey Fitz (named after John F. Kennedy’s presidential yacht). The 189 guestrooms are anchored in the setting, as well, starring rattan and wood headboards, while the nautical-infused Evelyn’s features a palette of blue, white, and wood to complement sweeping ocean views.
