Seafarers, a mixed-use development on the Yarra River in the emerging Northbank district, will be home to the 1 Hotel Melbourne when it opens later this year. For the brand’s Australian debut, the 277-key property (with 114 residences) puts biophilic design at the forefront, embracing such materials as recycled and reclaimed wood from local bridges and the site’s own heritage wharf and shed.
