Korea-based Lotte Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of the Lotte Hotel Seattle, the brand’s newest hotel and third U.S. property.
The189-room hotel features a midcentury modern design from Philippe Starck, inspired by Seattle’s natural landscape and the creative and contemporary nature of the city. A contrast to the space is the design’s ability to emit a bright and lively mood through unique touchpoints, including floor-to-ceiling windows boasting uninterrupted views of Seattle’s skyline.
Lotte Hotel Seattle is located within the iconic downtown F5 Tower, designed by ZGF Architects. The building reflects not only thetowers around it, but the culmination of a 30-year effort and Seattle developer Kevin Daniel’s vision to preserve a piece of the city’s past—a historically significant church now known as the Sanctuary. Founded in 1908 and the nation’s oldest Beaux-Arts-style building, the Sanctuary now serves as an events venue, retaining traditional features such as a pipe organ and stained-glass windows and ceilings.
Symbolic of 5th Avenue’s fusion of new and old, a glass connector serves as an enclosed transition between F5 Tower and the Sanctuary to blend the historic building with a modern skyscraper.
