W Hotels Makes Its Saudi Arabia Debut in Riyadh

The handiwork of LW Design, the 210-room hotel draws on Najdi textiles and the desert to shape a local expression of the W brand

W Hotels has opened its first Saudi Arabia property, the 210-room W Riyadh – KAFD in the King Abdullah Financial District.

Designed by LW, the interiors draw from Saudi cultural references, weaving Najdi textile traditions, desert and mountain landscapes, and the geometric vocabulary of the tradition Al Sadu weaving pattern into the material language of the building.

Guests arrive at a lobby that balances open social zones with quieter areas for dining and relaxation. A nearly 20-foot tapestry by Saudi artist Abdulnasser Gharem anchors the entry sequence, complemented by sculptural elements and floor-to-ceiling curtains that reference the early stages of the weaving process.

The W Lounge takes cues from traditional Bedouin gathering settings, with circular banquettes and sunken tables informed by fire pit arrangements.

Guestrooms at W Riyadh – KAFD

The hotel’s 210 keys include 17 suites, two penthouse suites, and the W Penthouse. Guestrooms feature a palette of green, ruby, gold, and bronze accents, with geometric textiles and wall art in English and Arabic typography. The penthouse suites, meanwhile, offer expanded floor plans with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking downtown Riyadh.

At approximately 4,200 square feet, the W Penthouse spans two bedrooms, separate living and dining areas, a kitchenette, an office, and a gym area with steam and sauna facilities. A floor-to-ceiling installation of wooden and illuminated spheres references Subha, traditional prayer beads associated with reflection and mindfulness.

Dining and social programming

The hotel’s F&B program features Sira, which offers a Latin American-inspired menu prepared in an open kitchen, where dishes are cooked over an open fire, and a central bar serves crafted mocktails. Meanwhile, Beni functions as an all-day coffee house, offering specialty coffee and artisanal ice cream.

WET Deck, the hotel’s outdoor setting, brings Mediterranean-inspired food, private cabanas, and poolside seating to the property. Later this year, Sahari, named after the Arabic word for staying up late, will open as an outdoor lounge designed for performances and social events.
