While we’re gearing up for HD Expo + Conference in August at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, attendees can get a taste of what awaits them with the HD Expo + Conference Preview. Taking place May 4–5th, the free virtual program comprises a lineup of exclusive conversations, updates, and outlooks not to be missed.
Programming will kick off on Tuesday, May 4th with Hospitality Design editor in chief Stacy Shoemaker Rauen in conversation with David Rockwell about his new book, Drama. Shoemaker Rauen will then moderate the “HD Insight: Where Are We Now?” panel, which will assess industry performance and direction as we emerge from COVID-19. Next up, “Lightning Round: New Project Update” will illuminate forthcoming and newly developed projects from Studio Munge, SOM, Lore Group, and more. “Ask the Purchasers” will feature industry leaders fielding audience questions, moderated by Helen W. Jorgensen of Host Hotels & Resorts. Finally, Shoemaker Rauen will sit down with Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud and designer Stephanie Goto for an in-depth look at their innovative restaurant concept, Boulud Sur Mer.
Wednesday, May 5th will begin with the “Platinum Circle Roundtable,” where HD will celebrate and inaugurate its newest honorees. The roundtable will open with the presentation of three scholarships by NEWH as well. Next, Bruce Ford of Lodging Econometrics will lend his expertise to a “Lodging Forecast” that will provide an overview and outlook for hotel development worldwide. The “Brand Identity and Update” panel will then tackle brand-centric stories from the perspective of insiders, with brands like Bunkhouse, Auberge, and AutoCamp represented. Shoemaker Rauen will also moderate “DesignWell—10 Questions on Health, Wellness, and Design,” where experts will answer burning questions on design for wellbeing. Aptly, the HD Expo Preview will conclude with “HD Onsite—Las Vegas Preview.” Led by Mark Boekenheide, senior vice president of global development for Las Vegas Sands Corporation, the deep dive will comprise project updates, insider looks, and enlightening conversation.
