Jeffrey Beers International (JBI) has announced that Ira Imerlishvili has joined the New York-based studio as principal. He most recently served as a design director for luxury brands at Marriott International.
“I gravitate to like-minded creatives from varied backgrounds held together by a passion for design,” he says. “JBI has established itself as one of the leaders in the design scene for over 35 years. Their wide range of projects, from high-end resorts to urban hotels, and from F&B to residential spaces, contribute immensely to our industry.”
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Tbilisi, Georgia, Imerlishvili initially began his career as a set designer and costumer for opera and theater productions. His talents also led him to design the uniforms of the Georgian national team for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Imerlishvili went on to graduate from Georgia State University with a master’s degree in interior architecture and design.
During his tenure at Marriott, Imerlishvili was instrumental in the development of many international projects, including St. Regis properties in Abu Dhabi and Toronto and Ritz-Carlton outposts in Portland and Costa Rica.
“With the architecture and design industry ever-evolving, I would like to stay true to the company’s core values and long history of delivering outstanding, bespoke work,” he adds. “Explore and engage new opportunities that will allow us to innovate, endure, and cultivate human-centered design storytelling.”
