Preferred Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest independent hotel brand, has announced plans to unveil nine new properties this year. From a contemporary ski resort in Utah to a luxury hotel in Oslo, Preferred’s upcoming openings will embody the brand’s emphasis on authenticity and personalized experiences.
“The nine openings scheduled for 2022 within Preferred Hotels & Resorts are testament to how both the hotel industry and passionate travel community continue to embrace and celebrate independent hotels and resorts around the globe,” says Preferred president Michelle Woodley. “The inspiring destinations coupled with the unique design characteristics and authentic personality of each new property will enhance our global portfolio and offer discerning travelers even more personalized and immersive experiences from which to choose.”
Opening this month is the 153-room Pendry Park City, which feature a warm, nature-inspired design that pays homage to the alpine setting of Canyons Village in Park City, Utah. June 2022 will include the launch of Passalacqua in Lake Como, Italy. Housed within an 18th-century mansion, the lavish 24-suite getaway will highlight its history alongside amenities like an open-air fitness center and lakeside swimming pool that reinforces the idyllic setting. The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong and sly Berlin are both slated to debut this summer. Fullerton Ocean Park will house 425 guestrooms and suites as well as luxury public spaces from an outdoor infinity pool to four diverse F&B options at its location within Victoria Harbour. Located in the Friedrichshain neighborhood, sly Berlin will occupy four modern buildings interconnected via open courtyards and a 2,400-square-foot greenhouse. The 150-room hotel will offset its urban vernacular with natural materials from solid oak wood to Italian serpentine stone. The 231-room Sommerro will herald the revitalization of a restored landmark in the Frogner section of Oslo’s West End. Set for a September 2022 opening, Sommerro will be characterized by its original Art Deco features, custom artwork, and glitzy spaces, including a 100-seat gilded theater.
Additional 2022 openings include the 180-room Wall Street Hotel in New York’s historic Tontine Building; the 189-room Amrit Ocean Resort & Residences in Singer Island, Florida; TOA Hotel & Spa, which will comprise 86 contemporary guestrooms in Zanzibar, Tanzania; and the Pendry Washington, DC – the Wharf, which is slated to open this fall.
“We are honored that, despite this turbulent time for the hospitality industry, the owners and management teams of these amazing new openings recognize the value of belonging to our brand and how they will benefit from our eco-system designed to drive awareness and revenue to their properties,” Woodley adds. “Our partnership approach to business, ongoing innovation in programming, and our unwavering commitment and belief in travel are what makes us stand out and continue to grow as the preferred brand partner for independent hotels.”
