SH Hotels & Resorts has unveiled ambitious expansion plans. Over the next four years, the company, founded by Barry Sternlicht, will add 19 properties across its 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels, and Treehouse Hotels brands.
The biophilic, sustainably minded 1 Hotels brand will launch in Melbourne, Copenhagen, and Seattle in 2025, followed by Crete and Austin in 2026. Four 1 Hotels units are then slated to debut in 2027, including a Kengo Kuma-designed Paris property; a hotel and residence in the UNESCO World Heritage city of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; as well as entries in Riyadh and Cabo.
Baccarat Hotels will expand on its flagship property, Baccarat Hotel New York, with five launches: Rome (2025), Florence and Dubai (2026), and Miami and Riyadh (2027).
Inspired by the carefree ethos of a child’s treehouse, Treehouse Hotels first debuted in London five years ago. The brand will introduce a 254-key Silicon Valley property and a riverfront hotel in Manchester this year, while Miami (2026), Adelaide (2027), and Riyadh (2028) units will open down the line.
“At SH Hotels & Resorts, we believe in creating spaces that transcend the ordinary and are more than just a place to stay—they are a celebration of living in harmony with our surroundings,” says Barry Sternlicht, chairman of SH Hotels. “In 1 Hotels, it’s about fusing sustainable luxury with the restorative power of nature. In Baccarat Hotels, we combine timeless elegance with modern sophistication. And in Treehouse Hotels, we ignite the imagination with whimsical charm and playful design.”
“We’ve ignited a wave of responsibility in luxury hospitality,” Sternlicht adds. “Our growth strategy is intertwined with our commitment to the planet, and this is just the beginning. As we expand, we continue to redefine the narrative of what it means to travel consciously.”
