Valencia, Spain-based design studio Masquespacio has again partnered with Italian fast casual burger concept Bun to design its newest location in Milan. Located in the city’s Brera district, the new outpost evokes a refined aesthetic that naturally complements the historic character of the neighborhood.
“Goldish touches are one of the elements that make it more sophisticated,” says Masquespacio cofounder and marketing director Christophe Penasse. “We used dry plants for this space to add this more mature touch, while you can find an evolution of the swimming pool concept we used previously, but here has a completely new approach for which we try to recreate the waves and blurry effect of being under the water.”
While the location echoes the swimming pool inspiration and arch motifs found at other Bun eateries, the space goes beyond the use of green to anchor the color palette. The design is distinguished by four pastel colorways that demonstrate a more mature, less splashy ethos. Lavender and lemon hues are paired in arched booths and benches, while pink spaces rub shoulders with deep green enclaves. The mirrored ceiling spills down the walls in the rear of the interior to further immerse visitors in the underwater effect, accented by tiling and off-blue hues that are contrasted by reflective gold touches as well.
