London-based design practice Studio Seilern Architects has completed a new F&B concept atop Mount Gütsch in Andermatt, Switzerland. Perched more than 7,600 feet above sea level, Restaurant Gütsch reinterprets the traditional hameau, or a Swiss hamlet. Nestled between two ski slopes, the eatery draws inspiration from the carved stone sculpture Horta de Ebro by Spanish artist Manolo Valdés.
The façade of Restaurant Gütsch is made from locally sourced stone and crafted to mirror the silhouettes of the regional Swiss vernacular. Expansive openings in the 66-seat dining room offer panoramic alpine views. The interiors are clad with rough steamed pine panels and glulam timber beams across the ceiling. Additionally, thre terraces span the stone structure, comprising a total of 190 outdoor seats.
