Roman dining concept Ted has expanded its footprint with a sister eatery, Ted Ostinense, in the Prati neighborhood of the Italian capital. Designed by local design practice Studio Strato, the new, 2,700-square-foot restaurant features a unique layout more suited for nightlife crowds, while still retaining the aesthetics of the original outpost.
The juxtaposition of new materials and constructive systems with the embraced history of the property defines the new location without evoking a strong vintage quality. Concrete pillars are featured along with textured ceilings exposed with piping, while walls showcase painted brickwork and shiny ceramic cladding. A golden aluminum counter and large neon signage punctuate the arrival experience, accented with thick velvet curtains that provide acoustic support as well. Dark oak floors span the restaurant interior and contrast the rough walls and ceiling, which are adorned with dark gray paint. A lengthy, black leather banquette anchors the perimeter of the dining room. Bespoke tables are topped with natural oak, while round communal tables are lacquered in orange and green. A high communal table is elevated on a concrete platform in the rear of the space along with the wood and marble bar, while the kitchen window is graced with a large mural from London artist Nella Scott.
