A new Sushi by Bou location has launched in New York. Tucked away behind Chelsea espresso bar and flower shop BOSQE, the intimate nine-seat omakase restaurant features a design by KCC design + build that draws inspiration from the Roaring Twenties.
âThe interiors were inspired by the Chelsea speakeasy scene, combining classic elements with the playful spirit of Sushi by Bou,â says KCC architectural designer Liz Ignatyeva. âWe believe this design will stand out in Chelseaâs culinary landscape as it combines organic, natural elements with classic urban motifs, much like New York City itself.â
Upon arriving to BOSQE, guests are whisked beyond a mossy, forest-like atmosphere into a dark hallway lined with remnants of floral wallpaperâan apt bridge between the two spaces. Curved ceilings clad with cream-colored panels nod to the Gilded Age above a wall of banquettes inside the opulent jewelbox that is Sushi by Bou. Notes of gold and brass are juxtaposed with dark gray and plum tones that evoke the luxurious sensibility of the bygone era. Crystal adornments round out the swanky but accessible aesthetic.
