International culinary concept SUSHISAMBA is continuing its global expansion with the launch of a new location in Dubai. Crafted by New York-based studio ICRAVE, SUSHISAMBA Dubai overlooks Palm Island and the city’s iconic skyline via the 51st floor of the Palm Tower. “ICRAVE did an exceptional job designing a space that pays tribute to this spectacular, earthy view,” says SUSHISAMBA founder Shimon Bokovza. “In their design, they never tried to compete with nature. Instead, they achieved the perfect complement to the horizon.”
Spread across 12,000 square feet, the 134-seat eatery draws upon Japanese and Brazilian weaving traditions with an expansive, 3D-printed ceiling installation. Vivacious greenery and warm lighting accent the immersive, dreamlike canopy design, which is further accentuated by the tiered floorplan. “It’s both sophisticated and Zen—traditional and tropical,” Bokovza adds. “It brings warmth and overall cohesiveness against the vastness of the horizon, without comprising the view.”
Wooden, marble, and stone surfaces also abound across an interior anchored by a large oval-shaped marble bar and a theatrical open kitchen. The 14-seat private dining room boasts its own rarified views of Dubai, while an enormous Japanese lantern—a cultural symbol of a spiritual return to the elements—infuses warmth.
