The highly anticipated Aman New York has debuted across Midtown Manhattan’s historic Crown Building. Longtime brand collaborator Jean-Michel Gathy of Malaysia-based Denniston led the design of the 83-suite, ultra-luxury urban retreat, which evokes Aman’s signature Asian-inspired tranquility alongside the gilded splendor of New York.
“It [was] truly an honor to work with such a revered piece of New York’s architectural history and play a role in ushering in this exciting new chapter in the Crown Building’s legacy,” says Gathy. “The design of Aman New York reflects the brand’s commitment to creating luxurious havens of space and seclusion, while paying homage to the building’s stately architecture and momentous history.”

Upon arrival, a double-height atrium heightens the drama, complete with multilayers of textured ceiling and wall panels in muted tones. A variety of buzzy social spaces are housed onsite, including a wraparound garden terrace flanked by water features for a soft, soothing touch on the 14th floor. In addition to Italian restaurant Arva and Washoku Japanese concept Nama, the hotel’s jazz club will serve as a destination unto itself as well.
The centerpiece of the property is the three-floor, 25,000-square-foot spa. The wellness sanctuary is home to a 65-foot-long pool, 10 treatment rooms, fitness facilities, and two Spa Houses that comprise expansive double treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, and outdoor terraces populated with cabanas, daybeds, and fireplaces.
Aman New York, which is the brand’s third U.S. location, boasts 22 private residences and some of the largest hotel suites the city has to offer. The destination also features an Aman Club as well as an exclusive cigar lounge and wine room.
“The opening of Aman New York is a milestone moment in the evolution and growth of the Aman brand, cementing our strategy to bring the coveted Aman lifestyle to the world’s greatest urban locations,” says Aman chairman and CEO Vlad Doronin. “The hotel, Aman Club, and Aman Branded Residences bring an entirely new proposition to Manhattan. Generous amenities and the unparalleled Aman service deliver a guest experience like no other, as we continue to push boundaries and set new standards in luxury hospitality.”
