Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the W Ibiza Hotel has debuted as the latest entry in the W Hotels portfolio. The 162-room property is housed within a beachfront Balearic structure constructed in the 1980s that was recently reimagined by Tel Aviv-based Baranowitz + Kronenberg to evoke the free-spirited heritage of the Spanish locale with curated street art and high-end furnishings.
“It was important to us to capture the spirit of Ibiza within this project,” B+K cofounders Alon Baranowitz and Irene Kronenberg said in a statement. “‘Flower Power’ lead our design strategy—laid back, colorful, simple, transparent, engaging, and letting the sunshine in are notions that flow throughout the public and private spaces of the hotel.”
Indoor and outdoor environments harmoniously blur together in the inviting layout. A bohemian theme characterizes public spaces, particularly across the ground floor where the main entrance esplanade naturally flows into the outdoor pool and the sea. An amphitheater of ascending platforms anchors the interior with colorful furnishings that offset the concrete floors and steel-wired, handwoven laced ceilings. In addition to pool and rooftop bars, three F&B venues—La Llama, Ve Café, and Chiringuito Blue—round out the onsite options, all set against the backdrop of the sea. A 4,000-square-foot spa and fitness center is also featured on the property.
