Locally based practice Studio 11 Design has revealed its redesign of the CANVAS Hotel Dallas in the city’s Cedars District. The art-centric property’s new restoration emphasizes local culture and community with its upgraded guestrooms and public spaces.
A welcoming atmosphere in the lobby is amplified by newly installed gaming options, like shuffleboard and billiards, while the gallery punctuates the interior with vibrant color. The Gallery Rooftop Lounge serves as an additional social space, featuring a pool against the backdrop of the South Dallas skyline. Intimate lighting gently illuminates seating vignettes, and original and repurposed materials abound across the space, like wood planks wrapping the bar, to further instill a sense of place.
All 76 loft-style guestrooms were renovated to showcase original elements, as well as locally sourced artwork. Exposed brick infuses a tonal harmony beneath natural lighting and the accommodations’ 12-foot-tall ceilings.
