The Carlton Cannes is set to reopen in spring 2023 as a flagship property in the new generation of Regent Hotels & Resorts.
Following a two-year, multimillion-dollar redevelopment led by Paris-based designer Tristan Auer, the landmark retreat in France will reaffirm its place as a tentpole of modern luxury. “Carlton Cannes is an icon—a modern hotel in an historical building, which tells you the power of history,” Auer says. “One is at the service of the other but without disrupting the story, the harmony, the heritage.”
Home to 332 guestrooms and 37 branded residences, Carlton Cannes will continue to serve as an opulent oceanfront beacon with its preserved Belle Epoque façade framed by twin domes. Interiors are reinvigorated with pastel and terracotta hues as well as new focal points, like a ceramic reception desk inspired by artists from Valloris. The accommodation’s neutral tones convey a soothing quality, along with the azure Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop. Rattan headboards exude lightness and elegance as well. “The color palette is driven by eucalyptus leaves, which I discovered on the floor the first time I visited the site, with shades of light gray, pastel green, and powder pink,” Auer adds.
