The Faena Group has scheduled a November debut for Faena Hotel Miami Beach, a new property located within the forthcoming Faena District Miami Beach development.
The mixed-use district will include cultural spaces, residential, lodging, retail, F&B, and other public outlets. Faena Hotel Miami Beach will be the first to open at 32nd and Collins, with the rest to come in several phases over the next three years.
The 169-room hotel will be repurposed from the historic Saxony Hotel with 13 penthouse residences across its two uppermost floors. Interiors will be collaboratively conceived by film director and producer Baz Luhrmann, production and costume designer Catherine Martin, and Faena Group founder Alan Faena.
The hotel will include the 3,000-square-foot Theater at Faena Hotel Miami Beach, which will take design cues from iconic global opera houses and will host live cabaret shows that are open to both guests and the general public.
Additional amenities will include the 22,000-square-foot Tierra Santa Spa, along with F&B outlets Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann and Pao.
Faena District itself will also feature the 50,000-square-foot Faena Forum—a cultural programming institution to be designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas of OMA. It is slated to open next April.
The district’s residential component will encompass the 18-story Faena House, designed by Foster + Partners; the 22-residence Faena Versailles Classic, a tower that is being converted from the former Hotel Versailles by designer William Sofield; and the new-build Faena Versailles Contemporary, designed by architect Brandon Haw.
