Dallas-based design practice Studio 11 Design has completed the refresh of the Fontaine hotel in Kansas City, Missouri’s Country Club Plaza District. The 132-room hotel has been revamped with a refined style aligned with the surrounding Plaza District, whose architecture draws inspiration from Seville, Spain.
The reimagined lobby boasts an oversized painting of a Renaissance-era woman to balance the contemporary touches throughout. Rich jewel tones and gray finishes span the interior. Plush, modern furnishings are offset by an ornately handtufted rug, while an antique brass light fixture installed overhead contrasts the lobby’s gleaming Carrara marble. For added texture, dark floor-to-ceiling velvet drapery panels are featured alongside crystal chandeliers. Solarium, the breakfast lounge located adjacent to the hotel lobby, features abundant windows that bring in natural light and a mix of natural materials complemented by industrial metal finishes. Because of its proximity to the hotel’s exterior courtyard, the space takes on the personality of an authentic interior garden room. For example, galvanized steel countertops are inspired by traditional potting tables.
Warm hardwood floors and a palette of blue, deep charcoal, and white span each of the fashionable guestrooms, which feature lush velvet and oversized woven headboards. Crisp Carrara marble adorns the bathroom along with white tiles that accent stainless steel bath fixtures. Accommodations range from the 400-square-foot traditional rooms to the 1,500-square-foot presidential suite, which is equipped with a kitchenette, eight-seat dining room table, lounge, guest bathroom, oversized master bathroom, and a 750-square-foot terrace.
The hotel is crowned with Parker, a modern social concept, which is crafted with a cool palette of gray and deep blue and punctuated with notes of olive green and copper. Wood tones and furnishings, such as an antique back bar mirror, are also featured. Along with a living green wall, the rooftop pooldeck has also been refreshed with new furnishings in a neutral palette of cream and taupe.
