The hospitality landscape of Orlando is set for an unprecedented rebirth with the launch of the forthcoming Lake Nona community. Dubbed “a smart city with soul,” the 17-square-mile destination will be anchored by the dynamic Lake Nona Wave Hotel. Global practice Arquitectonica will craft the 234-room lifestyle hotel to reflect the vibrancy of its setting. “Our goal is a building whose architecture represents the aspirations of this new town: fresh, vibrant, memorable, and of its place,” says Arquitectonica principal Bernardo Fort-Brescia.
Blue Lantern Studios is envisioning the property’s playful interior design, which will be enlivened by a curated selection of multimedia artworks and dramatic wallcoverings that serve as a backdrop for custom furniture and bespoke lighting. Technology, however, will be the most distinguishing characteristic of the property, which will be equipped with voice-automated in-room controls, in-room tablets, and keyless entry. A bespoke mobile app will allow guests to monitor and curate their entire stay as well.
F&B options will include a signature restaurant overlooking the Lake Nona Town Center Plaza, while a second eatery and lounge will frame views of the hotel pool and its pastel-hued cabanas. In addition to a fitness center and 12,000 square feet of event space, the hotel will be home to the Lake Nona Performance Club. The 130,000-square-foot wellness center will comprise a holistic spa, rock-climbing gym, and indoor golf training facilities. An open-air garden lined with nearly 300 palm trees will also serve as a key outdoor space.
