The Sydell Group has announced the arrival of the Line Hotel, Washington, DC. The 220-room property mirrors the principles of the brand’s flagship in Los Angeles thanks to a design conceived in collaboration with New York-based firm INC Architecture & Design.
Housed within a neoclassical church in the city’s Adam’s Morgan neighborhood, original architectural elements like 60-foot vaulted ceilings, millwork, brass detailing, and copper entry doors remain intact, welcoming visitors into the lobby. Church organ pipes have been repurposed into a dramatic chandelier, while original church pews are upcycled with new colors and orientations to provide public seating. Hymnal boards have been reused to display directions.
Guestrooms include custom brass bedframes and solid oak writing desks. Greenery and micro-libraries in each room are featured alongside bespoke charcoal drawings, photo stories, and locally sourced textiles.
The hotel is also home to several F&B options, including A Rake’s Progress from chef Spike Gjerde, which is anchored by a large stone hearth. Also featured is A Rake’s Bar, the lobby café concept the Cup We All Race 4, the restaurant and bar Brothers and Sisters, and the standing room restaurant and speakeasy Spoken English. A 24-hour fitness center and 10,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting and event space are also housed onsite.
