The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills is set to reveal its $11 million refresh next month as part of its 10-year anniversary celebration. London-based design firm Richmond International was behind the design of the new London Bar and Boxwood restaurant. The revamp will also see updates to onsite meeting spaces and suites.
Inspired by English country house conservatories and orangeries, the London Bar has debuted in the lobby as a new all-day social hub as well as the threshold to the Boxwood restaurant. An island bar will anchor the understated yet ornate space, which will also be clad with studded leather panels, a polished marble stone top, and exotic flora wallcoverings. A skylight will stream natural light into the bar, while the intricate latticework frieze will reflect the iron frames typical of conservatories. Suspended lanterns will also infuse a sense of character. The naturally lit dining and sitting rooms of the Boxwood will be upgraded to ensure openness and flexibility. The space will be easily divided and equipped with blackout shades for private functions.
Los Angeles-based AKA Architecture + Design led the redesign of the rooftop pooldeck, which maximizes panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills. Evocative of an English garden centered around palm trees and a saltwater pool, the deck will feature Victorian-style loungers and private cabanas as well as a large living wall and fountain. Textured, natural wood will replace existing materials, and modern planters will be traded in for more classical models.
