Ennismore is set to launch the first Mondrian hotel in France early next year. On the legendary Boulevard de La Croisette, the Mondrian Cannes, which is expected to open in March 2023, will occupy the oceanfront site formerly home to the Grand Hotel Cannes.
“We’re excited to introduce the Mondrian brand to France with Mondrian Cannes, a stunning hotel poised to be the cultural epicenter of artistic design and culinary innovation at the heart of the French Riviera,” says Chadi Farhat, Ennismore’s brand chief operating officer for Mondrian. “The hotel’s iconic history, combined with modern day elegance and artistry, will offer the ideal seaside retreat for guests seeking the very best of the Côte-d’Azur.”
France- and Brazil-based architecture firm Triptyque will spearhead the renovation and redesign of the hotel, distinguishing the Mondrian Cannes with organic geometry and natural materials. A sophisticated, modern ethos will characterize the property, which will warmly bond interiors with the lush natural surroundings through expansive sightlines, woodwork, marine motifs, and blue hues.
The 75-room retreat will be home to more than 50,000 feet of gardens, including a 150-seat terrace overlooking the French Riviera. A key attraction of the Mondrian Cannes will be Hyde Beach Cannes, a private beach concept that will invite guests to lounge upon waterside daybeds and indulge in Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails.
Meeting and event facilities and a fitness center will round out the amenities offered onsite, while accommodations—including a trio of suites—will span a minimum of 380 square feet and feature abundant natural light.
