Nobu Hospitality is expanding its global footprint with the launch of Nobu Hotel London Portman Square. Located at the corner of Portman Square in the Marylebone section of the city, the new 249-room property conveys a contemporary interpretation of Japanese architectural themes—the luxury hotel brand’s signature aesthetic—via a collaborative design by locally based David Collins Studio.
“Our designs for this Nobu Hotel merge the unique Nobu vibe with character, richness, and a welcoming warmth,” says Simon Rawlings, creative director at David Collins Studio. “The finishes have an aura of craft, hand work, technicality, and layering. These combine to create a very special and unique aesthetic, which will embody ultimate calm and comfortable luxury.”
The minimalist interior design is punctuated by a refined color palette informed by heritage Japanese color combinations. A Nobu restaurant anchors the onsite F&B lineup, which also includes chic cocktail concept Roku Japanese Gin Garden at Nobu Portman Square.
A robust wellness program is also housed onsite, comprising a Pilates studio, a 1,500-square-foot fitness center, and a trio of treatment rooms.
The hotel’s accommodations were crafted by Make Architects to echo the distinct character and allure of the hotel’s public spaces. Eye-catching wall prints, bespoke light fixtures, and intricate joinery all serve as key focal points amid a backdrop of a subtle, textural palette. All seven guestroom configurations and four suite configurations are illuminated in abundant daylight as well.
