Design brand RH introduces a new hospitality experience with the launch of RH Guesthouse New York. Home to six guestrooms and three suites, the new hotel concept occupies a restored loft building in New York’s Meatpacking District, located a stone’s throw away from the RH New York gallery.
The timeless and contemporary aesthetic of RH Guesthouse is characterized by floor-to-ceiling European oak, vein-cut Italian travertine, stainless steel accents, and layers of Italian wool velvet upholstery. “The RH Guesthouse has been designed through a lens of privacy and luxury,” says RH chairman and CEO Gary Friedman, who spearheaded the design concept alongside RH’s in-house team. “Privacy is the one thing everyone has given away on social media, and the one thing the internet has taken away, as you can access anyone online. We believe privacy is going to become a large and important market, and the RH Guesthouse has an opportunity to define that new market with an unseen-before level of design, quality, and hospitality.”
Included among the onsite amenities is a dramatic live-fire restaurant and dining terrace, as well as a 32-seat champagne and caviar bar in the building’s cellar. Crowning the 19th-century property is a rooftop garden, pool, and dining terrace, where sculpted hedges and London pane trees line a 40-foot-long mosaic infinity pool set against the Manhattan skyline. Italian travertine daybeds float above vein-matched travertine slab decking as well.
Guestrooms and suites, outfitted with oak surfaces and travertine-clad bathrooms, embody balance and symmetry. A wall of soundproof windows frame vistas and invite abundant natural light, while architectural lighting casts chambers in a soft glow each evening.
The centerpiece of the lodging options is the 2,600-square-foot residence. The private, open-concept penthouse is outfitted with 11-foot-tall coffered ceilings, elegant boiserie walls, Corinthian columns, and herringbone floors. Travertine opulently adorns the monolithic fireplace as well as the handcarved, eight-person dining table, which is offset by oak surfaces, cashmere seating, and a chef’s kitchen equipped with stainless steel appliances.
