Romer House Waikiki has opened its doors as the first adults-only hotel Oahu, Hawaii.
Designed as a celebration of Waikiki’s eclectic lifestyle, Romer House is an upscale urban hideaway housing a dining concept, curated local art partnerships, wellness programs, recreational amenities, and a pool.
Guestrooms and amenities at Romer House Waikiki
Crafted by Indidesign, the hotel’s 179 guestrooms are reminiscent of a Waikiki apartment with a blend of woven textiles, rounded wood, and a color palette dominated by matte black and midnight blues. In many rooms, large-scale glass sliding doors reveal hideaway lanais overlooking the neighborhood.
At the heart of Romer House is IZAKAYA 855-ALOHA, a reimagined izakaya and bar from TableOne Hospitality, where Japanese hospitality meets the diverse cultures of Hawaii. The space features original art by local illustrator Solario and photography by Joe Rovegno that all pay homage to the iconic payphone.
The backyard pool and bar provide a social hub sans splash-zone distractions. Softly upholstered cabana daybeds, lounge vignettes, and a full-service bar invite guests to unwind in a wade pool encircled with native plant life and a statement mural by artist Cory Kamehanaokalā Taum.
A spotlight on local Hawaiian art
The hotel also showcases the creative expression of artisans across Hawaii’s eight islands. Upon entry, guests are greeted by never-before-seen local art illuminated across a grand gallery wall, while guestrooms feature oversized photography by renowned surf photographer Arto Saari. The pool deck, meanwhile, displays a custom mural inspired by Waikiki’s original fishponds by Hawaiian artist Cory Kamehanaokalā Holt Taum.
