Luxury ocean and expedition line Seabourn recently launched its first purpose-built expedition vessel, Seabourn Venture, on its maiden voyage to Norway and the Arctic. The ritzy ship, crafted by New York-based interiors studio Tihany Design, channels the glamour and romanticism of early explorers.
“It centers on the spirit of adventure and thrill of discovery,” says Tihany Design founder Adam D. Tihany. “Consequently, the mission was to embed the ethos of expedition into the Venture’s interiors, while preserving Seabourn’s ultra-luxury aesthetic and DNA to give purposeful, global exploration a spectacular allure. Seabourn Venture personifies bespoke, with every detail and minutiae from light switches to upholstery stitching, the hallmarks of our custom design. It was designed as a bridge from centuries of exploration past to the 21st century.”
Artistry and innovation abound across the ship’s elegant interiors, which include a dozen public areas, like the Expedition Lounge on Deck 4. Custom furniture comprising wood, wool, leather, and fur invite guests to unwind beside dual fireplaces producing water vapor “flames.” A glass partition etched with a vintage map and a full bar are also featured.
Next door, the Discovery Center serves on the ships’ classroom, adorned with a natural color palette, organic shapes, and plush seating. Additional lounges include the Constellation Lounge on the top deck, which frames 270-degree vistas, and the Bow Lounge, which serves as a prime space to watch for marine life.
F&B venues include the Restaurant, whose bold lines and soft forms recall falling snow, while geometric blue and purple carpeting surround porcelain floors akin to the sediment of a geode. Lined with riveted curved wood, the Colonnade invites guests to dine under sleek copper ceilings, while the communal hub Seabourn Square offers a charming café option.
Rounding out the amenities is a spa facility fashioned like a contemporary “floating forest.” The space is endowed with focal points like a tree-inspired textured mural, light wood, and bronze surfaces. Fitness and yoga areas are outfitted with floor-to-ceiling windows to frame contemplative views.
Seabourn Venture accommodates 132 contemporary suites thoughtfully crafted with tactile materials and bespoke details synonymous with timeless luxury. Wall panels call to mind parchment, while custom bedside panels are equipped with technology—from toggle switches to a foldaway reading lamp—to further enhance the guest experience. In addition to custom textiles, furnishings are also detailed with wood frames, exposed rivet details, and bronze inlays.
Seabourn plans to deliver a second ship, the Seabourn Pursuit, next year.
