Placerville, California—located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Foothills between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe—is set to unveil its first hotel in more than 30 years. The 106-room Mackinaw Hotel from San Diego-based hospitality company Eat.Drink.Sleep will debut in late 2023 and feature a modern alpine-inspired aesthetic crafted by Second Sight Design, the design division of Eat.Drink.Sleep.
“We recognized the need for a hotel that can provide an elevated guest experience that complements the charm of this location,” says Eat.Drink.Sleep CEO Brett Miller. “The Mackinaw Hotel is a wonderful marriage of all EDS and Second Sight Design services, from concept development, interior design, identity and branding, and hotel operations.”
A materiality of stone and timber will complement the Mackinaw Hotel’s mountain views and further promote the natural majesty of the setting. The property will also comprise 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space, 830 square feet of dedicated to F&B concepts, and 3,000 square feet of flexible outdoor space.
