Thompson Houston is now welcoming guests in the Texas city’s historic Fourth Ward.
The new-build hotel is housed within a sleek, futuristic structure designed by global architecture firm HOK. Soaring 36 stories, the building is made of glass and steel with curved lines that utilize aerospace manufacturing techniques.
Interiors, led by Abel Design Group, are imbued with warm earthy colors, organic materials, brass fixtures, and hardwood floors that pay homage to the nearby Buffalo Bayou Park.
The hotel’s 172 residentially inspired guestrooms, including 34 suites, were crafted to evoke a Texas oil baron’s home with an array of custom furnishings. Rooms boast spacious en-suite bathrooms with marble porcelain vanities and bespoke wall treatments and tiling.
Located on the seventh floor, the midcentury-modern lobby captures the spirit of Houston with an edgy yet elevated design. Right off the lobby is Sol 7 restaurant, which features rooftop seating. Soon to come are two additional restaurants operated by TableOne Hospitality: Chardon, a French brasserie debuting this summer, and Buck 40, an upscale supper club slated to open this fall.
The full-service spa spans an entire floor, complete with six treatment suites, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, saunas, a salon, and a 24-hour fitness center.
In addition, Thompson Houston houses more than 17,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space. Each venue embodies residential luxury, from the intimate executive boardrooms to an 8,000-square-foot ballroom adorned with eclectic mesh chandeliers, brass accents, and a private terrace.
