Under Canvas has just opened its latest outpost, Under Canvas Lake Powell – Grand Staircase, on Utah’s Canyon Rim Plateau. Designed by the company’s in-house team, the new camp overlooks 220 acres of Southwestern desert vistas that invite outdoor adventure. A palette of weathered raw wood, top-grain leather, and sleek metal accents further reflect the rugged setting as well. “The design aesthetic for our new Lake Powell – Grand Staircase location showcases the surrounding natural environment and breathtaking scenery,” describes Under Canvas CEO Matt Gaghen.
The retreat comprises 50 safari-style canvas accommodations perched upon elevated decks equipped with private ensuite bathrooms. Six tent configurations span the accommodations, including the luxe suite. The luxe suite features its own lounge and the Stargazer tent, which is outfitted with a viewing window above its king bed.
A central lobby lounge tent will function as the main social hub, populated with furnishings from brand partner West Elm. “Through our continued partnership with the design brand, [we provide] guests a modern and stylish hub to connect and lounge in during their stay, in addition to the new outdoor shade structures and architectural features that expand to the canyon rim,” Gaghen adds.
