Viceroy Hotels & Resorts has further expanded its European presence with the launch of Viceroy at Ombria Algarve in Portugal.
Set on 13 acres with panoramic views of the Algarve hills and open plains, the 141-key resort features guestrooms, suites, and residences designed by WATG, Wimberly Interiors, and Lisbon-based architecture firm Promontorio.
The collaborative design concept embraces local craftsmanship and celebrates Portuguese history and culture.
The hotel’s accommodations are located across 24 buildings arranged to recall a traditional village. Guestrooms and suites include a mix of terraces, pools, balconies or jacuzzis, as well as kitchens, pantries, and dressing spaces.
The resort also boasts six dining outlets—Café Central, Bellvino, Ombria Kitchen, Solalua, Casa & Fora, and Salpico—that pay homage to the property’s locale.
Additionally, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve features four swimming pools (three heated and one seasonal) with valley and sunset views, along with a kid’s club, which is complete with a large playroom, a mini kitchen, and a nursery.
Dedicated to the health of the area’s land and ecosystems, the project also includes a plant nursery to ensure the growth and preservation of local flora and fauna. For instance, more than 700 oak trees were planted and 5,900 linear feet of river habitat has been restored as well.
The resort also incorporates bioclimatic architecture, along with solar and geothermal energy.
Holistic Spa by Viceroy—equipped with a thermal pool, eight treatment rooms, and beauty services—is expected to open onsite early next year.
