Dutch design firm concrete has announced the completion of Zoku Copenhagen, the second outpost in the work-meets-play hotel hybrid’s portfolio. Conceived with the global nomad in mind, the property is equipped to support long stays in addition to a variety of social and coworking needs.
Located in the city’s Amager neighborhood, Zoku Copenhagen occupies a red brick structure designed by Danish architecture firm Arkitema. Guests are welcomed into a sundrenched greenhouse to establish the property as an urban oasis. The verdurous greenhouse leads to the bar and living rooms, where guests can relax or work alongside one another. The hotel is also crowned by an indoor-outdoor rooftop space. “The social spaces are an ultimate escape on the roof,” says concrete’s project architect Murk Wymenga. “The pavilion is designed as a sequence of spaces and functions, so guests feel more comfort to move from room to room and experience more intimacy while they stay, dwell, play, work & meet.”
Both communal facilities and accommodations are crafted with concrete’s distinctive, eccentric interpretation of modernism and a palette of bold colors. Zoku’s spacious micro-apartments boast an elevated modularity that balances function with style. In addition to the brand’s signature wide or deep configurations, concrete also crafted three new loft types for the Copenhagen outpost.
