Japanese dining concept Japón is now welcoming diners at the Setai Miami Beach.
Designed by locally based Saladino Design Studios, the space marries traditional Japanese craft with modern elements, resulting in an immersive journey through time.
At the heart of the restaurant’s design narrative is the crane, a Japanese symbol for elegance, luck, and natural beauty.
A custom mosaic crane welcomes guests, framed by floor-to-ceiling feather tiles, while walls are adorned with woodblock paintings from the 1800s.
In the main dining room, glossy greenish-blue paneling sets the backdrop for temple-style ceilings, traditional lighting, and intricate textures. The crane motif continues across fabrics, reflecting the landscapes associated with a bird’s flight.
A handpainted gold-foiled glass mural serves as a striking partition between the seafood display, private bar, and dining room.
The bar, meanwhile, features marble ribs and custom crane-themed wallpaper.
Vintage relic doors lead into a private dining room, where original antique woodblock art and vintage paintings unfold beneath a handpainted gold-leaf ceiling.
Outside, the dining area is marked by a large, custom-designed pagoda surrounded by moss-covered murals. These elements frame the restaurant from the hotel’s courtyard, allowing the crane motif to transcend the interior space.
