Following a two-year restoration, Hotel das Cataratas in Iguassu Falls, Brazil, has joined Orient-Express‘ portfolio. Traditional Portuguese style informs the interior design. Paintings of local flora and fauna by Brazilian artist Ludmilla de Montes adorn the hotel’s 193 guestrooms and suites. Traditional Azulejos painted tiles found throughout the property were specially designed for the project. Hotel das Cataratas has two dining outlets: Restaurante Itaipu and the Ipe Bar & Grill located near the pool.
A new spa housing five treatment rooms, a relaxation room, and a sauna will open at month’s end using local tropical fruits and ingredients sourced from the Amazon.
