Media and fashion brand 032c has launched its first standalone retail venue, 032c WORKSHOP, in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin. The brand’s creative directors Joerg and Maria Koch collaborated with locally based firm Davide Rizzo Architects on the design of the new store, which embodies an intersection of fashion, commerce, and the avant-garde.
032c WORKSHOP was conceived as a pair of complementary parts: a street-facing exhibition space with a retail space housed beyond it. “It’s culture in the front, commerce in the back,” Joerg Koch says. “It was like an aura-machine.”
A bath of wall-to-wall red distinguishes the storefront, which will host rotating original installations by artists and collaborators ranging from photographer Juergen Teller to Helmut Lang and Supreme. Currently showcased is an installation by American artist Sterling Ruby. Beyond, 032cReadytowear evokes intimacy with curvaceous, backlit white shelving that contrasts vibrant red carpeting that echoes the hues of the exhibition area.
