A Bauhaus Building in DC Finds New Life as SIXTY DC

Hotelier Jason Pomeranc’s latest outpost opens as a layered cultural hub in Dupont Circle
Published: July 28, 2025

Jason Pomeranc’s SIXTY Hotels brand is heading to Washington, DC’s vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood.

Designed in collaboration with Melissa Bowers, the interiors of SIXTY DC draw inspiration from the Bauhaus architecture of the existing building, with layers of modernity expressed through a palette of warm woods, leather, and brass. The result is a series of intimate, refined spaces that feel both timeless and tailored.

Central to the guest experience is the hotel’s commitment to creating an activated social atmosphere, which is achieved through two F&B spaces helmed by Toronto-based SCALE Hospitality: rooftop restaurant Casamara and ground-level cocktail bar Reynold’s.

Casamara, which channels the vibrant flavors and sun-drenched energy of the Mediterranean coast, is rendered in a rich material palette of earth tones, checkered marble, custom tapestries, and luxe textiles.

With more than 2,000 square feet of indoor dining and an expansive 3,000-square-foot rooftop terrace, Casamara offers sweeping views of the neighborhood and a dynamic setting for day-to-night dining.

Nearby, with its own entrance on 18th Street, the sultry cocktail bar Reynold’s offers a moody, velvet-draped counterpoint. Jewel-toned furnishings, flirty tassels, and a marble-topped bar anchor the cozy space.

Playful details—like hidden antique pendants tucked into a coffered wood ceiling and uniquely carpeted floors—add depth and discovery. A working fireplace framed by a classic mantel invites guests to settle in and stay awhile, too.
