It’s Always Sunny at Wild Palms Hotel in California

BHDM Design imbues the lobby with the fun shapes and bright colors that defined the 1960s

In Sunnyvale, California, Wild Palms Hotel has debuted a vibrantly refreshed lobby.

The concept for the space centers on “62 and Sunny”—a playful homage to the region’s climate and the property’s 1960s inspiration.

Reimagined by New York-based BHDM Design, the lobby’s new look also draws inspiration from a vintage Aperol advertisement. Enhanced sightlines and a vivid color palette breathe new life into the vintage hotel while retaining its nostalgic charm.

Upon arrival, guests pass through the revamped double-height lobby, which boasts a custom ceiling mobile of brightly hued, interlocking circles.

Echoing these playful shapes, supersized dimensional wall circles, inspired by the texture of a classic California bungalow, bring a sculptural quality to the otherwise flat surfaces.

Clean lines are paired with citrus and sun-kissed furnishings, including powder-coated tubular furniture reminiscent of retro poolside elements.

Tropical motifs—such as beach balls and cabana stripes—appear throughout as well, while details like yellow canopy chairs, striped cushions, and colorful seating tie together the Wild Palms Hotel’s playful, sunny vibe.
