The Louie
The details: At the Louie, A Davenport Hotel, Autograph Collection in Spokane, Washington, Harken Interiors teamed up with Indiewalls to craft an art narrative that unfolds across the hotel’s public spaces. Inspired by the life and letters of namesake Louie Davenport, the collection includes a diverse roster of contemporary artists, such as Irina Alimanestianu, Melanie Biehle, and Jet Lowe. “We paired traditional finishes with unexpected artistic touches such as playful botanicals and diary-like pieces that feel like rediscovered personal treasures,” says Lisa Cox of Indiewalls. One standout is the lobby’s mirrored column, printed with pressed botanical imagery of local flora like Washington’s state flower, the Pacific rhododendron. The vintage-inspired panels use a custom in-house printing method that allows artwork to be applied directly onto a colored mirror, with negative spaces revealing reflective metal beneath. As guests move around it, the artwork shifts with the changing light, transforming the space into a story of memory and place.
