At a glance: The long-awaited Aman New York (only the second city hotel for the luxury brand) is set to open this spring. Jean-Michel Gathy, principal designer of Denniston, will pay homage to the Neoclassical Beaux-Arts Crown Building—the former first home of the Museum of Modern Art—by restoring the century-old structure with Gilded Age details while nodding to the brand’s Asian origins throughout the 22 private residences and 83 elegant guestrooms. In addition to the three-floor Aman Spa, the hotel will comprise a garden terrace and bar, private members’ club, jazz club, and wine room.
