White Elephant is a Nantucket landmark, so when its sister property opened in a historic Mediterranean Revival building (formerly home to the Bradley Park Hotel) in Palm Beach, it needed to make a graceful splash worthy of that legacy. Boston-based Elkus Manfredi Architects invigorated the beachy façade of the 1920s structure with black trim and striped awnings that pop against a fresh white stucco finish.
That elegance carries through to the lobby and the U-shaped courtyard, with its bougainvillea-framed arches, palm tree-lined pool, indoor/outdoor restaurant, and original walls that now act as privacy screens.
Museum-quality works, first glimpsed in the lobby, also appear in the guestrooms, conjuring a breezy art collector’s residence. Nineteen of these 32 layered, neutral-toned spaces are capacious suites decked out with custom designs—including ergonomic, reading-friendly headboards—and amenities like a full kitchen and roof terrace for alfresco dining.
White Elephant Palm Beach was a finalist in the Suites and Upscale Hotel Public Space project categories at the 2021 HD Awards.
