The 65-villa Capella Kenting will feature a thoughtful design honoring the indigenous Pingtung heritage

Through a partnership between Capella Hotels & Resorts and real estate firm Riant Capital Limited, Capella Kenting is set to open its doors in southern Taiwan in 2028.

Located on 24 acres along the western coastline of the Hengchun Peninsula in Pingtung, the resort will be designed by Italian architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel of ACPV ARCHITECTS.

The design will draw from Pingtung’s indigenous architecture and the rich natural environment of the Hengchun Peninsula, integrating elements like low walls made from stacked stones commonly found in the region’s tribal houses.

“This approach not only strengthens the connection between design and culture, but also minimizes our visual impact on the natural landscape,” Viel says.

The 65-villa property will boast the largest hotel rooms in Taiwan, with accommodations starting at 2,100 square feet. Each villa will also be equipped with a private swimming pool, hot spring facilities, and a 180-degree ocean view.

“The design concept revolves around the special connection and relationship between the hotel and the ocean,” says Citterio. “Guests will be able to fully immerse themselves in boundless sea views and irreplaceable natural experiences.”

The resort’s wellness program will blend traditional southern Taiwanese wellness practices with Capella’s signature lunar phase-specific therapies.

Capella Kenting will also feature culinary concepts and the living room, a brand signature made for travelers to meaningfully connect with the locale through cultural experiences.
