Meliá Hotels International signed for two luxury hotels in Qatar and Indonesia. The future Meliá Doha will open during the first quarter of 2015, and Gran Meliá Bintan will open in 2017.
Meliá Doha will occupy 39 floors of Bin Samickh tower in Doha’s West Bay. The hotel includes 282 rooms and suites, and will offer a wide range of restaurants and spa facilities.
“The Arabian Gulf is a natural focus for the expansion of our luxury brands, and the signature of the Meliá Doha brings a guarantee of solvency and quality management to this important property, while at the same time representing a partnership and commitment between two important business groups with a solid foundation and family values,” says Gabriel Escarrer, vice chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International.
Meliá Hotels International built its first global hotel in the 1980s in Indonesia. The company currently manages, and is in the process of opening, an additional five hotels in the country. Gran Meliá Bintan will be the second Gran Meliá hotel in the country. The Mediterranean style resort will comprise 120 suites and 38 villas with one, two, or four bedrooms.
