Coastal Italian restaurant Élephante has opened its doors at Scottsdale Fashion Square, the largest shopping mall in Arizona.
Inspired by the landscape
Designed in-house by Wish You Were Here Group, Élephante’s parent company, the venue takes cues from the surrounding desert, blending organic textures and handcrafted details throughout the indoor-outdoor space.
The design concept also draws inspiration from founder Nick Mathers’ travels to destinations like Pantelleria, Italy. Retractable walls, lush greenery, and natural materials create an airy, sun-soaked ambiance, while a palette of earthy green and burnt orange add a touch of warmth.
At the heart of the space, a striking central bar features locally sourced aqua marble, Indonesian rattan, and custom teak elements.
Art at Élephante Scottsdale
Art plays a central role in shaping the aesthetic as well. Curated by Tara Bean Designs, Élephante showcases handwoven African baskets, raw cotton tapestries, and 3D ceramic installations.
Standout works from artists like Chanee Vijay, CARALARGA, Mariella Motilla, and Justin Steffler are also featured.
Bar Bambino
Élephante is also home to Bar Bambino, a tucked-away cocktail lounge exclusive to the Scottsdale location.
A dramatic curtain reveals a moody, retro-inspired space, where a bronzed scalloped bar, mirrored ceiling, and handpainted mural by Priscila González set the stage.
A custom chandelier by Yucatán-based Angela Damman crowns the central banquette, while an elevated DJ booth and a mix of marble and carpet flooring add to the sultry, transportive feel.
