Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld recently completed the design of Fasano Restaurant, a new Italian eatery in New York. Located in Midtown, the concept from restaurateur Gero Fasano comprises three sprawling dining spaces, including a laidback osteria, an elegant main dining room, and an intimate 26-person private dining room.
“The design has everything to do with Gero’s personality and his cuisine: classic, contemporary, and grounded in tradition. I wanted guests to feel welcome in a cozy and comfortable atmosphere,” Weinfeld says. “Gero and I are not only seasoned professionals in our careers, but also have a 20-year collaboration in countless restaurants and hotels, we are able to tune our works very naturally, and this balance comes out very clear and harmonious in the design.”
Neutral tones and natural materials—including elements sourced from Brazil—permeate the space to establish a balance of sophistication and warmth. Plush carpets and delicate lamps further soften the atmosphere, while a curated selection of photos, objects, and antiques nod to the legacy of Fasano Group.
A lively bar and lounge, Baretto, is also set to open on Fasano’s second floor in spring 2022.
